Five major attractions of the Oku-Tsugaru Adventure Gravel Ride Time Travel!!
1) A sandy beach ride through the "Last Ice Age Buried Forest" Ride along the coastline, known for its beautiful sunsets, while overlooking Hokkaido and the Shirakami Mountains. The abundant water sustains the natural environment in the area where the "buried forest" is located. It's said that the moisture prevented the "buried forest" from decaying when it was vacuum-packed, and it emerged from the ground when the coastline split. It's an emotional experience of traveling back in time 28,000 years ago.
2) Tour the World Heritage Sites of the Hokkaido and Northern Tohoku Jomon Sites The Jomon period began 15,000 years ago. The clay figurines found at these sites offer a glimpse into the hearts of the people of that time, including their reverence for ancestors and nature, and their prayers for fertility. Their charming and mysterious appearances convey the warmth of their lifestyles. The Jomon period likely practiced "living in harmony with nature through love." It offers a glimpse into the well-being of modern-day life.
3) The timeless beauty of Oku-Tsugaru's forests Oku-Tsugaru is home to the Aomori Hiba Forest, one of Japan's three most beautiful forests. Among these is the sacred "Twelve Yasu" tree. Aomori Hiba trees coexist with broadleaf trees in this forest. Experience the scenery, which changes with the seasons, and travel along the forest road, the remains of Japan's first and longest Tsugaru Forest Railway, reminiscing about the days when the forest railway ran.
4) Experience scenery and townscapes that have continued since the Meiji era and cuisine that has been passed down since the Jomon period. Experience modern architecture at the Dazai Osamu Memorial Museum "Shayokan," built in the Meiji era, and encounter the Tsugaru Railway, the northernmost private railway on Honshu. Furthermore, imagine the dining experience of Oku-Tsugaru today as you shop at the beloved local supermarket "Nakatani Shokusaikan," and savor the local cuisine made with the ingredients you encounter. Experience modern and contemporary lifestyles and imagine yourself traveling back in time in a time machine.
5) Enjoy breathtakingly beautiful scenery. Takamori Inari Shrine, a historic shrine in Oku-Tsugaru, has been in existence since the Middle Ages. The rows of thousand torii gates within its grounds are a beautiful sight, and it's now a popular photo spot. The endless countryside overlooking Mount Iwaki, the Tsugaru Fuji, the Twelve Sacred Trees that suddenly appear in the Aomori Hiba forest, the Seven Waterfalls, and the remains of the forest railway are also a highlight. The Bense Marsh, created by Oku-Tsugaru's abundant water, and the highlight is the Sunset Coast, where the dazzling scenery is truly breathtaking.
This stay plan allows you to experience the Jomon period as a time of well-being through programs such as Jomon cuisine. Not only will you visit ruins under the theme of "truth underground, romance above ground," but you will also experience the worldview that the romantic Jomon period was a time of well-being in the land of Aomori, a World Heritage Site.
